When people first began to be able to publish their writing on the web easily they began called them "web logs" (a log is like a journal or diary). These two words got mashed together into the word "Blog".
Blogs are now used by millions of people around the world. Professional news writers use them, businesses use them to promote products, teachers use them to reflect and share knowledge, people use them to write about their interests and hobbies... the uses are endless.
Oh, and there are lots of kid bloggers out there.
Why am I telling you this?
Our class is going to be creating some blogs of our own! We are going to use Kidblog. It's a great blogging site because it requires no personal information, so it is safe. Students will do some of their writing on the blog and other students will be asked to give them feedback in the comments about their writing.
